John Kerfoot is the founder of Kerfo Music, based in the UK, where he works full time as a music producer and songwriter. His studio is nestled in the scenic Derbyshire countryside in the Midlands.
John plays drums, piano, and guitar (by his own admission, not his strongest suit), and he also sings.
His musical journey began at the age of 10, performing in bands from an early age. As a teenager, he fronted a four-piece rock band as a vocalist and guitarist, and later became the drummer for Jon Eno’s Screaming Kicks Big Band. With the Big Band, he performed across the UK and toured internationally in Atlanta and France.
He began producing music at 15, with his first release on a record label coming the same year. Like many young producers, he started out in EDM, trading his drum kit for a USB stick and dreaming of gigs as a DJ. Just two years later, he was working with Universal Music MENA after winning a remix competition for Anthony Touma’s track “Walk Away.” While studying in London, he DJed at numerous clubs and bars, clocking marathon sets from 9 PM to 5 AM at venues like Roadtrip & The Workshop.
Now, over a decade later, John focuses on producing for emerging and established artists across Western, European, and Asian markets, both signed and independent. He also regularly takes on bespoke music projects for sync publishers. Most recently, he was commissioned to write and produce a 10-track K-pop album for Atomica Music, one of the largest independent sync publishers in the United States.
